Time and Money or Time vs. Money

It is the age old topic of the top 2 things everyone wishes they had more of. Oddly enough most people will have more of one and less of the other. All too often we see the uber wealthy with every luxury money can buy, but no time to enjoy them. Then we witness the time card puncher with time for every hobby and sporting event possible, but never able to experience them in style. What gives??

Is it really possible to have the best of both? I believe that you can have anything you want in life, but I don't believe you can have everything you want. What i mean is there will always be a sacrifice or a price to be paid for what you want. Knowing what you are willing to give up for what you want, that will be key to acheiving the "balance" that you will need.

In the traditional form of creating income people trade their time for someone's money. The biggest issue with this is that you eventually run out of time, therefore you max out on the money you can earn. In the world of being an employee, you are going to be paid what the position you hold is worth. If you are a small business owner, you are paid based on the work you perform or the amount of widgets you sell. The issue here is you can only do so many jobs a month or sell so many widgets. Also, the value of you and your widgets are determined mainly by the marketplace rather than your personal value. Within this system there will always be a battle of time vs money, there will always be more of one than another.

The select few in this world, those that have been able to wrestle and take down this monster of time and money, what is their deal??? Are the super smart, multi-talented, crazy famous and knock down gorgeous? No, not really, but what they do have in common is one thing. What you ask? They all found a way to duplicate their time and effort. By doing this they have now eliminated the battle between time and money and put them in harmony, where they belong.

I know what you are saying...How do i do this? Well, the first step to finding a solution is to finally admit you have a problem. Stand up, clear your throat and repeat...Hi, my name is ________, and i have a problem. Ok, maybe you don't have to do that, but you do need to recognize that there is one and confront it. Here is a tip, you are not going to fix it with the same thought process you created it with. Here are a few steps to get you started:

  1. Know your worth. Your self worth will always come before your net worth. Build a belief structure that you are deserving of all that God has in store for you. Prov. 10:22

  2. Know your direction. You don't need a college degree, high school diploma or even a certificate from the diesel driving acadamey. What you do need is a clear vision and a burning desire to see its completion. Psalm 37:4

  3. Know your talent. No one can be all things to all people. I have heard people teach that we should strengthen our weak areas...bull! Strenghten your strong areas and find someone who is strong in your weak areas. 2 Cor. 12:9-10

  4. Know your demographic. I don't care how good your product is or how good you are, if your customer base speaks Korean and you don't, you have a problem. Learn that the key to getting what you want is not tied to what you like, it is about what your prospects are looking for. To learn their wants, learn their language. Gen. 11:1-6

  5. Know your power. You are endowed with seeds of greatness. You were created in the image of God. We have been instructed to subdue the earth, to take dominion. You have been given everything that could ever be required to achieve your wildest dreams, Go Sow! Deut. 8:18
